FAQ

v  Is a girl candidate eligible to join Maharaja Ranjit Singh Academy?

The foundation of the academy was laid for boys only.

 

v  Can I join AFPI, if I am a domicile of some other state?

As it is a venture of the Punjab government, therefore only a boy who is a domicile of Punjab can join the academy

 

v  Besides National Defence Academy does this academy prepare the aspirants for any other service academy?

The Union Public Service Commission conducts a common written examination for NDA and Indian Naval Academy. Therefore one can join NDA or NAVAC. Apart from this, we encourage the aspirants to join through the 10+2 Technical entry scheme.

 

v  Is there any relaxation in the age eligibility?

No age relaxation is given as this has been fixed keeping eligibility for NDA in mind.

 

v  What is the fee structure?

A  Candidate is required to pay the school fees of the school (Approx. Rs. 45,000/- per year, payable in three installments). AFPI provides a two-year training program to all cadets absolutely at zero cost. AFPI provides boarding, lodging, messing, and uniforms without any charges.

 

v  Is there any reservation for defence personnel's children or war decorated soldier's son?

No. Admissions are based on merit only.

 

v  Is there any prescribed book to prepare for the admission test?

Yes. The book is authored by Prabhjot sir. The name of the booklet is "Target AFPI".

 

v  Will all 151 selected candidates be called for an interview together?

No. AFPI conducts interview sessions in small batches of 30 candidates per batch.

 

v  Is there any physical test that needs to be carried out at the time of the interview?

No. AFPI only conducts a medical examination at a hospital.

 

v  If selected, will I have to stay in the academy, or do I have the option to stay in Mohali or a nearby area with my guardian?

A candidate has to stay within the academy for two years as we don't offer any system of 'Day Scholars'.

 

v  Is there any guarantee of the student's final selection in the NDA?

The academy is committed to providing quality education and would do everything possible for a candidate's success but it does not assure the final selection of the students in the NDA.
